On the occasion of International Women in Mathematics Day, May 12, an article by Marthe Bonamy (CombAlgo department, GO team) was featured.

May 12 has been chosen to honor Maryam Mirzakhani, the first woman to win the prestigious Fields Medal in mathematics.
As part of the event, a collection of articles recognizing and celebrating inspiring women in mathematics is being showcased.
Each article presented and selected is authored by a female mathematician, whose contribution to the field is measured by its impact and novelty.

Marthe's article presents a significant advance towards Reed's conjecture, which states that for coloring the vertices of a graph, the trivial lower bound is closer to reality than the trivial upper bound. This advance, from a factor of 10^7 to a factor of 25, is made possible by a technical contribution in the use of the probabilistic method, as well as by a paradigm shift in the framework in which it is used. The article has been downloaded more than 500 times since publication.
