Cité du vin

LABRI will host the 13th edition of GASCom the week of June 24-28, 2024. The conference will feature invited talks and talks on selected abstracts.

The very first edition took place in Bordeaux on January 18 and 19, 1994, organized in conjunction with “Polyominoes and Tilings” held in Toulouse on January 20 and 21, 1994. Indeed, “Both events brought together researchers interested in the same combinatorial objects (polyominoes, paths and animals), but with different motivations. What they had in common was enumeration and coding; Bordeaux, on the other hand, focused on random generation, while Toulouse was interested in geometric and topological tessellation problems and their complexity”. - TCS 159 (1996) 1-2.
The second “GASCom” was held in Caen, again in conjunction with “Polyominoes and Tilings”, under the name “Journées d'hiver à Caen”, on January 30 and February 1, 1997. “They follow on from the first week, shared between Bordeaux and Toulouse in January 1994, and it was the size of the audience common to both conferences that prompted the organizers to repeat the experience. Readers of this book will appreciate the wisdom of this choice. - TCS 218 (1999) 217-218.
In 2024, GASCom returns to its origins, since it was the Ecole de Combinatoire de Bordeaux that planted the seeds of these conferences, reminding us that the link between the two subjects is as strong as ever.
